Flagstick Films shoots in Ireland

In late fall 2008, Scott Wilson of Flagstick Films was hired to capture the scenic magic of eight courses in western Ireland for Ann Liguori's "Sports Innerview" TV show. Destinations included the links courses at Dingle Peninsula (Ceann Sibeal), Dooks Golf Club, The Golf Resort at Doonbeg, Connemara Champion Golf Links, Carne Golf Links, Narin & Portnoo Golf Club, and the parkland style courses of Castle Dargan Golf Club and Adare Manor Golf Resort.

"Being asked to pick a favorite is impossible," said Wilson. "Each course was more than just the setting or location. The people, the pubs, the fun along the way made each shoot unique." The notorious Irish weather also played a role in the challenges of capturing the essence of each course in High Definition. "You can never give up. On our first day we finished on the incredible setting of Dooks Golf Club with heavy cloud coverage. Our hosts agreed to stay out on the course with me till sundown and to our luck the clouds parted for the final 20 minutes of the day. Just incredible light, and great footage."

The visit at one course was a homecoming of sorts for Scott. Narin and Portnoo, the northernmost links on the itinerary, was the location for an episode of "The Wandering Golfer", a TV show Scott shot in 2005. "The clubhouse has undergone major renovations since that time but the course was eternal, just as I remembered it."
